How to Lock Files and Applications with your Fingerprint

Fingerprint scanners make it easier than ever to secure your smartphone, reducing the need to enter a PIN every time. Whether it’s locking or unlocking your device, or connecting to apps, this is certainly one of the most practical features of today’s phones. Biometric security is also used on smartphones, as the fingerprint application locking feature is widely used today. Whether it’s your social media application or your naughty photos, let’s see how to lock the content behind a fingerprint. We’ll start with a guide to locking applications and content on OEM envelopes that offer this feature natively, as well as some of the best fingerprint locking tools from the Play Store.

Huawei
Huawei was one of the first to adopt a fingerprint safe, as on the Ascend Mate 7 and other phones from his team. Locking content behind a fingerprint has become an essential part of Huawei phones and the latest devices still offer it.

To activate the feature on your phone, you need to go to Settings> Security & Privacy> Fingerprint ID. From there, you enable the options for accessing the vault and locking the application.

To enable the fingerprint lock feature, you must go to Settings> Security & Privacy> Application Lock, and then choose the apps you want to hide behind a fingerprint. Now, every time you tap a locked application, you’ll need to authenticate with your fingerprint to launch that application.

To access your vault, you can go to Settings> Security & privacy> Lock app, or open the Files app and tap Secure. If you want to add something to the vault, open the file application, hold the file in question, and tap More> Move to vault.

OnePlus
The featured manufacturer offers fingerprint scanners since the OnePlus 2, but they are not just used to lock and unlock the phone. For a few years, OnePlus has been offering fingerprint locking functionality called App Locker.

To search for this feature, you need to tap Settings> Utilities> App Locker. Enter your PIN to continue and you can choose Add applications to, finally, add applications. The page also offers a switch to hide the notifications of these applications. From now on, whenever you want to launch any of these applications, you must enter your credentials or use the fingerprint reader.

OnePlus also offered SecureBox functionality for your private files, but users noted last year that the files were accessible through a separate file management application. The company recognized the problem and updated the feature shortly thereafter, while also giving it the name of the Lockbox.

In any case, you can find the file safely by visiting File Manager> Categories> Storage Box. Once you have tapped on it, you must enter a PIN code to access it for the first time, but you should be able to use the fingerprint for future attempts. To add content to your vault, you need to keep the file, and then tap Three-point menu> Move to bin.

Oppo
OnePlus is not the only BBK brand to offer biometric recognition. Oppo’s recent products have also offered this feature.

To enable this feature, go to Settings> Fingerprint, Face and Code> PIN. Once you have pressed the last option, you will find the Enable PIN option. Tap the option, set the desired code, check it and choose a security question in case you forget it. You probably also need to associate an email address for your peace of mind.

After you complete this procedure, you can access the private security lock (file) and fingerprint lock options from the privacy code menu or in Settings> Security> Private Lock / Application Lock. Tap the lock apps option to choose apps that require a fingerprint to launch, and tap the private vault option to view (by surprise) your stock of private files.

Unlike some other vendors on the list, Oppo does not seem to display the file protection option in the native file manager. Instead, the default is to visit the aforementioned menus to view it. However, you can create a shortcut to the Home screen by visiting the Private vault, tapping the gear and activating the toggle.
